im gonna do this too. just for shits and GIGz.
:)
mrhz:
I think I might do this for the month of January. But more specifically … a Thirty Day POETRY Challenge. This will be fun? This will be fun.
if Lizzy’s gonna go do it, then it MUST be cool. so I think I will too. I can already tell some of these are going to be hard to talk about (except day 4, which is going to be hard to say anything new on, haha.) but here’s to the new year and cleaning out my closet. and here’s to writing prompts! I love ‘em.
I’ll start this tomorrow.

We’re all just slaves to Microsoft Office 2007
What she leaves out is the part where Excel was mentioned next to the phrase “and a glass of wine.”
In the past week two people I know who graduated last year have mentioned Excel in their gchat statuses. Such is life.

Duvert: I wanted us to focus on one entry of the diary that I love. It is beautiful and moving in French, and all the more so in English. The entry is dated June 15, roughly a year and eight months after Barthes’s mother passed away. It reads in French:
Tout recommençait aussitôt: arrivées de manuscrits, demandes, histoires des uns et des autres et, chacun poussant devant lui, impitoyablement, sa petite demande (d’amour, de reconnaissance): à peine eut-elle disparu, le monde m’assourdit de: ça continue.
And in English:
Everything began all over again immediately: arrival of manuscripts, requests, people’s stories, each person mercilessly pushing ahead his own little demand (for love, for gratitude): no sooner has she departed than the world deafens me with its continuance.

Would like to lay down on my lawn and blast this at the patrol car outside my house. Except I have no lawn, and the police would likely tase my ass.
Alsatian Darn Panda Bear (You Can Count On Me [Single - Vinyl Rip], 2010)

This song hasn’t been performed by Panda live, as far as I know, and it is absolutely beautiful. I have always been a huge fan of the lead single, You Can Count On Me, but this song may be my favorite of the two released on this record. The melodies in Alsatian Darn are devastating. I cannot wait to hear this in top quality, it’s going to be a killer.

My body is a laboratory.
Found Josh McHugh’s “Drug Test Cowboys,” from an old issue of Wired, on longform.org today. SCREW WORK STUDY
Nick F. was driving a delivery truck in Milwaukee when his life hit a rough patch. He was living in a converted barn and putting every spare penny into paying off a $12,000 debt he had accrued in college. The future looked bleak. So, for a change of scenery, he moved to Richmond, Virginia, where an acquaintance told him there was money to be made as a test subject in medical studies. Feeling desperate, he applied to join a drug trial in Baltimore. The promise: $6,500 for four 12-day stints of blood draws, echo cardiograms, and physical checkups.
That was three years ago. Since then, Nick, 36, has become a full-time guinea pig.

"WITCH HOUSE // CHILL WAVE // NAME GENERATOR"
This is amazing, because I can totally imagine some dirty hipster in a babydoll dress and neon Ray-Bans saying “oh yeah I’m lead synths for ΔMETHYST BRΔCE”
